Petrochemical Packaging Automation for High-Speed Bagging to Dispatch

Automatic bagging, palletizing, and truck loading for polymers, resins, powders, and chemicals
built for accurate weights, clean handling, and pallet loads that reach the customer intact.

End-of-Line Automation for Petrochemical Industry

Petrochemical plants handle high-volume materials such as polymer resins, plastic granules, pellets, powders and additives. At the end of the line, small gaps in weighing, filling, bag transfer, palletizing or loading can quickly become production and dispatch bottlenecks.

Alligator Automations has built end-of-line systems for petrochemical, refinery, and polymer plants since 2008. We supply the bagging machine on its own, or the whole line — bagging, palletizing, and automated truck loading — engineered around your product, bag size, and output.

Complete Petrochemical Packaging Automation Solutions

Alligator Automations provides end-of-line automation systems for petrochemical plants where bagging, stacking and loading must work together as one continuous operation.

Whether the requirement is a standalone automatic bagging machine or a complete petrochemical packing line with palletizing and truck loading, the system can be engineered around your material type, bag format, plant layout, speed requirement and dispatch process.

Common Packaging Challenges

Pellets, granules, powders and resins behave differently at the filling point. Free-flowing polymers discharge quickly, while fine powders may bridge or stall. The bagging system should be matched to the material, using the right filling and feeding configuration for consistent output.

PVC powder, carbon black, and additives throw dust at filling and transfer points, and every spill is product lost plus time spent cleaning. Dust-controlled FIBC filling with sealed connections and extraction, along with contained open-mouth filling, keeps the powder in the bag instead of in the air and on the machine — cleaner line, less waste, safer floor.

When an operator fills by eye against a scale, the safe move is to overfill, and on high-value resin that free product adds up fast across a shift. Load-cell net and gross weighing holds the set weight bag after bag, and an inline check weigher pulls anything out of tolerance before it ships.

Lifting and stacking 25–50 kg bags all shift wears people out, raises injury risk, and caps how fast the line can run — and manual truck loading then holds trucks at the dock. Palletizing takes over the stacking and the ATLS takes over the loading, so the crew supervises the line instead of carrying it, and trucks turn around faster.

Free-flowing and slip-grade polymers slide and topple when the stack isn’t right, which damages product during forklift moves, warehouse storage, and transport — and risks claims on export containers. A consistent palletizing pattern, locked in with stretch hood or wrap, keeps the load square and sealed from your dock to the customer’s.

Success Story — Automating a Manual Bagging & Dispatch Line

A petrochemical manufacturer needed to improve the movement of bagged material from packing to dispatch. Manual handling created delays after bagging, while inconsistent stacking affected pallet movement and truck loading readiness.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in a petrochemical packaging automation line?

A petrochemical packaging automation line can include automatic bagging, weighing, bag closing, bag conveying, palletizing and automatic truck loading. For Alligator Automations, the most relevant systems for petrochemical plants are Automatic Bagging Solutions, Palletizing Solutions and Automatic Truck Loading Solutions.

The system can be configured for plastic granules, plastic pellets, polymer resins, PP, HDPE, LDPE, PVC/S-PVC powders, masterbatch, additives, carbon black and bagged polymer raw materials. Competitor pages also position petrochemical packaging around plastic pellets, plastic powder, polymers, resins, masterbatches and carbon black.

For 25 kg and 50 kg pellet or resin bags, an open-mouth bagging machine with load-cell weighing is the usual choice; for bulk resin, a 500–2,000 kg FIBC filler suits export volumes. What matters is accurate weighing, gentle handling so pellets aren’t sheared into fines, and clean filling — which is why inline metal detection and check-weighing are common on these lines.

Alligator’s open-mouth filling systems can run up to 20 bags/min, depending on the product, bag type and system configuration. For petrochemical materials such as pellets, granules and powders, final speed should be confirmed after checking material flowability, bag size and line layout.

From 10–50 kg open-mouth sacks up to 500–2,000 kg FIBC bulk bags. Open-mouth systems run polywoven, HDPE, LDPE, and paper bags (250–650 mm wide, 500–1,200 mm long), closed by stitching or heat sealing; FIBC stations use woven polypropylene bags, including coated or lined bags that keep resin clean and dry. One line can be set up to run more than one bag size.

Automatic truck loading helps reduce manual loading dependency and improve dispatch speed. Alligator’s ATLS is designed to reduce loading time, improve operator safety and support faster movement of bagged products from the dispatch area to the vehicle.

Yes, and most of our work is exactly that. We study the plant first, then engineer around the existing machines, layout, and process instead of forcing a rebuild — you can automate one stage now and add others later. Installation, training, spares, and after-sales service are part of the package.
