Fertilizer Packaging Machines
for High-Speed Bagging
Automated fertilizer bagging, palletizing, conveying and truck loading systems
engineered for accurate weighing, stable stacking, dust-controlled operation, and faster dispatch.
Packaging Automation Built for the Fertilizer Industry
A fertilizer packaging machine automates the weighing, filling, sealing, and stacking of fertilizer from 25 kg and 50 kg sacks to 500–2000 kg FIBC bulk bags. Alligator Automations designs corrosion-resistant, dust-controlled fertilizer bagging and packing lines that raise throughput, hold weight accuracy, and cut heavy manual handling across granular, powder, and chemical fertilizers.
Fertilizer is one of the most demanding products to package. It is abrasive, hygroscopic (it draws moisture from the air), often corrosive, and dusty. A line built for sugar or grain will corrode, jam, and lose accuracy when it runs urea or DAP. Since 2008, we have built end-of-line automation for fertilizer, chemical, and agri-processing plants that has to survive those conditions shift after shift.
Suitable for:
- NPK Fertilizers
- Agricultural Minerals
- Soil Conditioners
- Bulk Agricultural Products
- Granular Fertilizers
- Powder Fertilizers
- Organic Fertilizers
- Chemical Fertilizers

Common Packaging Challenges
Fertilizer absorbs moisture from the surrounding air, which causes caking, poor material flow, and blockages during filling. Automated filling and sealing shorten the time product is exposed to air and close every bag consistently, so material stays dry and free-flowing through storage and transport. Stretch hood and shrink options add a further moisture barrier on the finished pallet.
Loose fertilizer dust is abrasive, wasteful, and a workplace hazard. Our FIBC bulk fillers use dust-controlled filling with sealed connections and extraction points, and open-mouth baggers keep the fill zone contained. Less airborne dust means cleaner equipment, less product loss, and a safer packing hall.
Underweight bags trigger customer complaints; overweight bags give product away. Net and gross weigh systems with load-cell control fill each bag to the set target and can flag out-of-spec bags with an inline check weigher and automatic rejection, so what leaves your dock is consistent.
Lifting and stacking 25–50 kg bags all shift causes injuries, fatigue, and turnover. Robotic and conventional palletizing handle the lifting and pattern-stacking; automated truck loading moves finished bags into the trailer. Operators supervise and manage the line instead of carrying it.
Poorly stacked or unwrapped pallets shift and topple in transit, damaging stock and risking claims — especially on export containers. Consistent robotic stacking patterns plus stretch wrapping, strapping, or stretch hood lock each load together and seal it against moisture and dust for long-distance and sea freight.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a fertilizer packaging machine, and how does it work?
A fertilizer packaging machine automates the weighing, filling, closing, and handling of fertilizer into bags, replacing manual filling and stitching. It combines a feeder, a load-cell weigh system, a bag-holding and filling station, and a stitching or heat-sealing unit — with conveying, palletizing, and truck loading added for a full line. Alligator builds both open-mouth baggers for 10–50 kg sacks and FIBC fillers for 500–2000 kg bulk bags.
How much does a fertilizer packaging machine cost?
The price depends on the level of automation (semi-automatic vs fully automatic), your target output, how many stages you automate (bagging only vs a full bagging-to-truck-loading line), your bag formats, and the corrosion-grade construction the product needs. Because we engineer each line to the plant rather than selling a fixed model, we quote after understanding your fertilizer type, bag sizes, and throughput. Share those details and we’ll scope a system and price to match.
Can one machine handle both powder and granular fertilizer?
Yes, when it’s configured for it. Powder and granular fertilizer flow very differently — powder is dustier and more prone to blocking the outlet — so the feeder (screw or vibratory for powder; belt or gravity for free-flowing granules) and dust control are matched to the product. Alligator’s open-mouth and FIBC systems are set up for powder, granular, prilled, and pelletised fertilizer.
What bag sizes, weights, and bag types can it handle?
From 10–50 kg open-mouth sacks up to 500–2000 kg FIBC bulk bags. Open-mouth systems run polywoven, HDPE, LDPE, and paper bags (bag width 250–650 mm, length 500–1200 mm), closed by stitching or heat sealing; FIBC systems use woven polypropylene bulk bags. The same line can be set up to run more than one bag size.
What is the speed of a fertilizer packaging machine?
The speed depends on product flow, bag type, filling weight, bag closing method, and automation level. Alligator’s open-mouth filling systems can run up to 20 bags/min, depending on the product. For FIBC/jumbo bags, Alligator’s bulk bag filling systems can run up to 40 bags/hour
How accurate is the weighing in fertilizer bagging systems?
Weighing accuracy depends on the material flow, feeder type, weighing system, and calibration. Alligator’s open-mouth filling systems can be configured with net weigher or gross weigher options, while add-ons such as an inline checkweigher and automatic rejection can be included to improve weight control and reduce underfilled or overfilled bags.
How do fertilizer packaging machines handle dust, spillage, and corrosion?
Fertilizer packaging systems can be designed with controlled filling, suitable feeder selection, bag flattening, dust-controlled filling, conveyors, and proper MOC selection. Alligator Automations FIBC/jumbo bag filling systems include dust-controlled bagging, while open-mouth filling systems offer SS/MS construction as per product requirements and add-ons such as bag flattener, checkweigher, metal detector, and automatic rejection.
